The two Beatles who have not yet been tapped by the cold hand of death have teamed up with the widows of the two that have to once again sue Apple Computer over the rights to the Apple name. (The group owns the rights to the Apple Corps name—the label that released all of The Beatles' albums.) As though the four of them don't have enough money, they now want a piece of the iTunes pie; some are already predicting the settlement will be the largest ever made in US court outside of a civil suit.
I mentioned last time that Team Sleep has been awakened, and now you can watch their video.
In much cooler news, you can now stream the entire lost Beach Boys album, Smile. The more people who listen, the more album details the public is allowed to see!
J Robbins, producer and guitar player for some of my favorite bands, has his own new outfit called Channels, which you can listen to here.
I've never been a big Failure fan, but since I know people who are I felt obliged to share this: an album of unreleased material has been, well, released.
International pop maestro extraordinaire Burt Bacharach is in the studio again. Being produced by Dr Dre. I don't even know if there's a joke in there somewhere.
More info on the great Ted Leo's fall tour.
Apparently the lifestyle of rock 'n' roll excess can be a business, as well. First there was Sammy Hagar and his (awesome) Cabo Wabo tequila; now, we have Mick Fleetwood and his Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar wine.
Dude, despite the fact that your band was popular, it wasn't that good (with the exception of Lindsay Buckingham). I'm willing to bet that your wine will meander down the same path to obscurity. {Via largehearted boy}
